10 Proven Time Management Tips for Work at Home Moms

If there’s one thing I learned really early on in my work from home life, it’s that multitasking just won’t work. Breaks are not just right for your body and mind; they give you a chance to reflect and plan further. Taking a break is especially important if you’re an entrepreneur.

As you can see from this schedule, I am only left with 1 hour in the day to manage tasks that are not a priority. Pilates definitely needs to squeeze its way back in there. This could double as exercise and a bit of self care. I allow myself time to make phone calls to family, friends or co-workers during this time. If I don’t need to make any, I listen to more Podcasts or YouTube videos. Here’s another chunk of my day where I can gain time for tasks.

Track your time.

If you are a night owl, you might find it challenging to adjust your timetable to get up early. In that case, you can use alarm clock apps for the starting, and gradually you will get adapted. It might not be easy to wake up early if you have an infant, so try to sleep early to get proper sleep.

I needed less time to work on really difficult tasks because I moved them to the beginning of my day when I’m naturally the most efficient. This simple change has been a game changer for managing my tasks as a working mom. Specifically at home, I don’t do menial tasks when my kids are taking naps, I work on tough projects for either work or my blog. I used to take that time to clean the house, but really, I can squeeze that in while they’re awake and involve them so I’m also spending time with them. This is one of the biggest game changers to getting more done. Managing your time both at work and at home will become so much easier if you can figure these two things out.

Start with a planner

Having to drive in traffic is a very stressful way you can get started or end your day. It is also expensive when it comes to fueling the car. Whichever travel options you have, it is more economical and more pleasant. Things like rail strikes, high fuel prices, and the high cost of living don’t make it a happy commute for people looking to get to their offices.

When creating a to-do list, make sure to add ‘me time’ and self-care practices to your schedule. Creating a balance between motherhood and self is very crucial for your health and the health of your family. You must take care of yourself first, and then take care of others.

#2 Plan Clever Activities

What does it mean for a mom to ‘be organized,’ and to what extent is this even possible? If you focus on a few key areas of organization, a little work can go a long way. In a nutshell, being organized with your schedule, with your house, and with your discipline strategy is one of the best time management tips you can get. For kids of all ages, routines smooth transitions. Getting an effective school morning routine is an important step in starting everyone’s day right.
